FAQs

We have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions. If you cannot find an answer to your specific question, please contact us on: 01932 863243 or: warden@waltonfirs.co.uk

A number of camping questions are answered on the General Information page.

Is the campsite secure?

Yes, as far as we can make it. We have CCTV on the car park and entrance areas. The site has NO public footpaths crossing it, so we do not have any public access problems. The site is completely fenced, to keep our campers in and others out. It is helpful if leaders can remind campers not to climb fences.

What is the site policy on the videotaping or photographing of young people?

The site policy is the Scout Association Policy. Parental permission is required for adults to film or photograph young people, while they are at camp. Any filming must not be for public release or identification. For additional information, please contact the warden.

When must accounts be settled?

Camping fees must be paid before the site is vacated, either by cash or cheque. Please note that we do not accept cards.

Can we hire tents and marquees?

We have a number of tents, mess tents, garage tents and a marquee for hire. Prices are available on request.

Can we hire tables and chairs?

A number of tables and chairs are available for hire. Prices are available on request.

Where do the ashes have to be put at the end of the camp?

The ashes should be emptied into the metal dustbins beside the main woodpile. You MUST NOT put hot ashes in the wheely bins or the skip.

What waste disposal facilities are there?

We have general waste skips. There are also cardboard/glass/cans/paper and plastic recycling bins in the car park.

Can we freeze ice blocks?

You are welcome to exchange ice blocks at the shop when it is open. There is also a freezer in the service crew bungalow porch for campers to use.
