General information


Camp Fires

There is a campfire circle on site and campfires can be arranged with the warden

Caravans

Caravans are not allowed on site. There is normally space in the car park for one or two.

Car Parking

Vehicles must park in the site car park. Vehicles are NOT allowed onto the camping ground. The site access lane, including the route past the car park MUST BE KEPT CLEAR FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES. Vehicles and their contents are left entirely at your own risk. Walton Firs Activity Centre cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage suffered.

Dogs

Dogs other than Guide Dogs are nor permitted at Walton Firs Activity Centre.

Fires

Small cooking fires only, are permitted in existing fire holes. Altar fires and BBQs must also be put in fire holes, not on turf. A woodpile is provided and all unused wood should be returned. Ashes should be placed in the metal dustbins beside the woodpile and NOT in the skip.

First Aid

Groups are expected to provide their own first aid resources, but the warden or resident service team leader may be able to offer assistance.

Flag Break

If required, these take place every morning: 09.00 – 09.30

Generators

The use of any generator on site is not permitted, without prior approval of the warden.

Hire

The following are available for hire: tents, mess tents, a marquee, tables and chairs.

No Smoking

No smoking is allowed in any of the accommodation buildings, toilets, during any of the activities or on the site around children please.

Pre Camp Visits

If you would like to visit the site before your camp or activity, you are most welcome to. Please give us some notice to make sure that we are available to answer any questions.

Reception

On arrival please book in at the office, which is situated at the end of the shop.

Refuse Disposal

Please burn as much as possible. Bagged rubbish may be put in the wheely bins or the skip in the car park. Please note that recycling bins for glass, cardboard, paper and plastic bottles are now provided.

Religious Observances

Short interdenominational religious observances on a Sunday morning at 09.15, can take place by prior arrangement with the warden.

Telephone

A public coin phone is situated at the front of the Service Team bungalow. It is for out going calls only. The warden’s number should only be given to a home contact and not to parents.

Toilet Blocks

There are two permanent toilet blocks on site both with flush toilets and hot water is available in all hand wash basins. Free hot showers are available for leaders and young people. Leaders’ showers are situated at the back of the ladies toilets by the Pembroke Building.No washing up to take place in the hand basins for health reasons.

Turf

No turf is to be dug – for any reason.

Shop

The shop sells a selection of sweets, drinks, postcards, badges, souvenirs and gifts. Camping Gaz and Calor Gas can also be purchased at the shop. Profit from the shop helps to provide equipment for the pioneering store. Leaders are therefore please requested NOT to run their own tuck shop. Opening times are displayed on the shop window.

Special Needs

We have a large washroom for people with special needs. It has a shower, toilet and wash hand basin. Please let us know at the time that you make your booking, if you wish to be located close to these facilities.

Water

Standpipes are situated throughout the campsite. NO washing or washing up is allowed at these standpipes.

Wet and Grease Pits

These may be dug in existing fire holes. Do NOT drain wet pits over the grass.
