Composition of the Management Group
The Management Group is intended to be representative of all users of the Centre and to co-ordinate ideas to help ensure that the centre meets the requirements of all youth organizations, to, provide ideas and input for the future development and the day-to-day operation of Walton Firs.
The Management Group presently comprises 12 members each representing the following organizations, with the Chairman appointed by the Board:
- Minimum of one, maximum of two Directors of the Foundation
- One member each representing the following Founder Scout Districts:
Esher, Leatherhead, Richmond upon Thames, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Walton and Weybridge
- One member from GLSW Scout County (Greater London South West)
- One member representing the Girl Guiding UK
- One member representing Walton Firs Service Team
The Centre Warden is also a member.
Further members, are being sought to represent local school users and young peoples’ organizations.
All members are invited to serve a two-year (renewable) period, however, it has been agreed that Esher, Runnymede and Walton and Weybridge Scout Districts and the Surrey Guide representative, will serve an initial period of three years.
Areas of responsibility of the Management Group are:-
- Child protection policies
- Development of the Centre
- Employees and recruitment
- Financial management, budgeting and pricing policy of the Centre
- Health and safety
- Maintenance and land management tasks
- Promotion of the Centre both within Scouting and to other youth organizations
- To assist the Foundation Board in maintaining support through the Friends of Walton Firs
- To recruit and maintain a support group of professionals to assist the Management Group when and where necessary
